Army gets Weapon Locating Radar

Weapon locating radar developed in India was handed over to the army on Thursday by State-run Military Weapons developer i.e. DRDO and the same is likely to be deployed along the LOC in J&K. the DRDO also handed over a nuclear , biological, and chemical vehicle and drugs to the army. It is learnt that four weapon locating radar (WLR) are deployed along the LOC for trial and that the same is proved to be effective as artillery fire from Pakistan side has come down after their deployment. This mechanism provides fast, automatic and accurate location of enemy weapons like mortars, shells and rockets in 50 km range.

In the ceremony graced by Defence Minister, Army chief and top brass of DRDO it was informed that the modernization of the army will move at fast pace. The DRDO chairman Shri  S Christopher said that after Navy and Air Force, time has come to hand over the products to the Army and that it is a proud moment for all the scientist in DRDO.
